“Son Of God” – a Charismatic Revival Masterpiece
Following “The Bible” Series, “Son Of God” comes to seal its epic success as a New Age masterpiece. The success of The Bible series was immense in the home of the charismatic revival, America. The show, along with pre-written sermons made big waves in some 180,000 churches. Audiences were captivated, dogmatic differences were eliminated, Christians have been united by this mass media event – the ecumenist dream coming true. So much of a success, that Pope Francis is wasting no time spreading the same message of unity:

As we have shown in the past, “The Bible” was the perfect vehicle to spread the message of “Changing the World” through a world-wide movement of seeking “social justice” and achieving “Christian unity”, all of course in preparation of receiving the New Age “Son of God”. Just as the Pope makes it quite clear, “the mission of achieving Christian unity is in God’s hands”, and “God will complete the work he has begun”. In other words the coming New Age “Son of God”, the Antichrist, will complete the unification, and efforts are being made worldwide in preparation. We have seen in a recent article how the “official” Orthodox Churches are in intense preparation efforts too. Nobody can escape it!
But going back to the main subject of this article, Roma and Mark, the creators of “The Bible” series were endlessly interviewed in Christian magazines and been on countless Christian radio shows where they kept saying that they were devout Christians and believers filled with the Holy Spirit. Hundred of thousand of Churches were bought into the whole charade and they promoted it actively.
For a true Orthodox Christian, knowing just this is enough to understand that these people are clearly not under the influence of the Holy Spirit, but the spirit of Charismatic Revival. The gift of the Holy Spirit is not achieved and does not manifest like this. People under charismatic influences, even when they call themselves “Orthodox”, often talk how they think they are filled with the Holy Spirit, how it manifests in them, how it tells them what they need to do, and even teach others how to “recognize” it, not understanding that this is not The Holy Spirit, but this other spirit. Generally they feel so full of this other spirit that they can not hide it, as opposed to our Holy Fathers who say those who truly have the Holy Spirit run and hide, or pretend they are fools. Also another manifestation of the Charismatic Revival spirit is making someone feel “special” and “above others”, just like Roma who admitted in an interview: “my husband says I’m so self-realized I’m practically levitating.”.
So let us explore a little what this spirit behind this “Son of God” really is and show that even that Roma Downey and Mark Burnett (the producers) say they are Christians, they are in fact not, but they are just New-Agers.
In a radio interview on “Focus on the Family” with Roma Downey and Mark Burnett talked about their new television series, The Bible. They claimed to be Christian and said that the Lord has called them to make this series. She shared about how she would pray and ask the Holy Spirit to fill her when she was on “Touched by an Angel”. To understand exactly how she was touched, just a quick Google search reveals a lot. She was quoted in an article talking about how she listens to books on tape by Eckart Tolle: “I get my own selections [on the radio in the car] — books on tape by Eckhart Tolle, Tony Robbins…”. If you are not familiar with Eckart Tolle, he is a New Age teacher who twists the Bible and adds it to his Hindu, Buddhist, Taoist, Shintoist philosophies.
We find out that Roma has gone to the University of Santa Monica to get a degree in “Spiritual Psychology” which, according to its own website, is not just an ordinary school, it specializes in New Age degrees like “Spiritual Evolution” – yes it is the same spiritual evolution towards the “Omega Point” we talked about in our previous article. On the page entitled “What is Spiritual Psychology?” we can read: “Spiritual Psychology is the study and practice of the art and science of human evolution in consciousness”. WOW – everything now starts to come together, does it not?
But this is not all, doing more research about the subject we find out that Roma Downey was even on TV with famous psychic Jonathan Edwards talking to her dead mother – that is wright, she is into spiritism – big time.
“Actress Roma Downey has talked to her mother through a psychic on live TV. The Derry-born Touched By An Angel star was a guest on a celebrity version of the US psychic show Crossing Over, hosted by medium John Edward. Roma’s mother Maureen died of a heart attack in Derry when she was 10. And Roma was heartbroken that she was never able to tell her how much she loved her. So she jumped at an offer from the producers of the show on the Sci-Fi Channel to speak to her mum using Edwards for the connection.”
The extent to which the producers go to promoting the “social justice” agenda rather than the Biblical truth is staggering. For example in “The Bible”, prior to being beheaded John the Baptist is heard saying this very chiliastic remark:
“He [Jesus] will bring a new age of righteousness and justice. His [Jesus’] power will draw all men to a new world.”
Also, on the scene with The Last Supper, while the actor who portrays Jesus says the bread is the body of Christ and the wine is Jesus’ blood, he never says the most important thing – “it is for the forgiveness of sins”.
This is extremely important because in the “Son of God” what they are trying to present is not the Orthodox Christ, but one who’s message is not of repentance but of uniting all faiths into and earthly kingdom where all are welcome. In Antichrist’s kingdom heretics and sinners, all are told they are accepted as they are.
Blessed Seraphim Rose was indeed a Holy Man, he showed us ahead of time where things were headed, and surely here we are – his book “Orthodoxy and the Religion of the Future” written decades ago is proving truly prophetic. We highly recommend the 1983 edition which still contains “unrevised” material. No wonder that present Orthodox Church authorities don’t like him.
