The World created by our Lord God was so different from what we have now. Through our Forefathers’ Fall, everything changed, completely. The Unity that the world once had was destroyed. That World had a spiritual and material harmony that no one could experience today. To some extent, a Blessed Person or a Saint could have some of out-of-this-world apparitions or could experience the Uncreated Light, for instance. But that Whole World was so special and our imagination would not help to see such Existence. Holy Fathers told us that Adam and Eve could not get injured, drowned, and slipped, did not need food the way we need today, or they could not become tired. Entropy, that is measuring the state of disorder (the greater the entropy, the bigger the disorder) entered this world only after the Fall of our Forefathers.

All matter changed after the Fall, but the chosen details in this story will be about the … virus. A virus is an entity which has quite strange behaviours. Also, every day there is a new “discovery” of some new viruses, according to modern scientists. These strange behaviours of viruses and their huge number of diverse types must lead to some conclusions, even in this Fallen world…
Some analogies to the way that this Blessed World looked like could be made by anyone who has some understanding of a Blessed State, as described by the Holy Fathers. Once again, that Blessed Unity of the world before the Fall is impossible to imagine. Although, one of the likely analogies with this painful transformation could be described, and this picture is in regards to the ‘annoying’ virus: if a mirror or a glass shatters, the little pieces produced in the accident cannot be put back together. In the same time, each little speck of glass contains some properties of that original mirror/glass: showing reflection, particles are made of the same ‘original’ material and any of those pieces shows some “unicity”…

The tiny and dangerous virus, like all viruses, contains genetic material. When a virus penetrates a given cell, this cell is ‘tricked’ into ‘believing’ that that particular genetic material of the virus belongs to itself. Therefore, the cell multiplies or makes copies of that virus, through those genes. In the process, the cell dies and the multiplied viruses enter other cells and the same development follows. The organism, attacked in this way, reacts in time, to this rising viral infection by increasing own defence and becomes able to fully defeat that intruder.

Most of the scientists classify the virus as a non-living thing, because it does not reproduce in a particular way, but uses a cell for this process to happen. Of the millions different viruses, only a small number of them turned deadly to man. This huge number of viruses, of which most of them are NOT affecting us at all, ‘waits’ to find own ‘matching’ into our cells through the same genes or fragments of genes that we may have in common. Ideas about the presence of the virus, containing specific genetic substance, could be more ‘perceptible’, now.

The dramatic change that occurred within the harmonious relationship of all things (on earth and beyond) of a Blessed Dome over a Divine Existence could be compared with a large mirror which smashed after the Fall. The Divine Normality disappeared and what was left is this crumbled world… We live now surrounded by fragments of that once Blessed Matter… Every virus has some genes which could be identified as such by a living cell, with the same type of genes and other similar connections. This occurrence is rare and when there is a viral disease, it is basically about an ‘attempt’ of matter to re-unite within itself, in this fallen world. Obviously, this ‘attempt’ becomes a disease, because such try is by nature a sickness, being without God! The world before the Fall had no sickness but was in the Light of the Lord and with the Lord Himself.

Once, that Unity was taken away through the worse ‘descend’ in history; this separation of elements from each other continues to present time. The ‘distance’ between various entities grew and still grows, reaching greater and greater entropy, in this manner. It is not happening just in the material world but in the spiritual one, as well. The Orthodox Church is keeping this Unity through the intersession of the Holy Fathers, through bishops, priests, deacons and ordinary faithful people. Diseases can be removed and health restored and even the dead ones can resurrect. In the Orthodox Church, the only Intercessor to God our Creator, entropy disappears and the action of viruses is stopped by placing those ‘intruders’ into the right order, to some extent…

Nowadays, everything seems to go on the wrong path for all of us: not just that these sicknesses of all kinds take over, but one’s path does not intersect with another one’s way … All these smaller and smaller gimmicks of a digital makeup connect to each other, with or without our will, as ‘new’ viruses. Present time ‘intruders’, as ugly images trying to stay ‘in touch’ with the heart of the invaded one, have been researched and discussed by Orthodox scientists. Currently, that interconnectivity, between digital ‘devices’, grows invisibly to the detriment of man. This man, who becomes disconnected to another fellow and ‘together’ disconnected to the Church of Salvation, relies too much on the invisible and digital dominion which fabricates pixels, illusions and…’connections’!
Viruses which appear in this plummeting world were not created by God, but emerged out of the destruction which cracked the (once!) Beautiful World. This crumbling process will continue until the Lord will decide to halt everything that falls, by re-creating the United Realm Who Will Be the Place of Eternal Joy for the ones worthy of Salvation, through Christ God.
