I am witnessing something happening in social media i cannot really say i am a big fan of. Let me explain, and it has to do with my own soul-searching as well.

Examples:

Patriach X says something against gay marriage, everyone cheers, tons of likes! But Catholics say the same thing, and Islamists share the same view … hmm. It’s just common sense anyway …

Bishop Y says something against abortions and killing of innocent lives, everyone cheers, tons of likes! But Catholics say the same thing, and Islamists share the same view … hmm. It’s just common sense anyway …

Orthodox leader Z says something against the corrupt Elite and the West, everyone cheers, tons of likes! But Catholics say the same thing, and Islamists share the same view … hmm. It’s just common sense anyway …

Interesting, we as Orthodox Christians have got to become just cheerleaders … for things that are common sense anyway!

For one, i am not going to let myself be caught up in this show of “adherence to commons sense”. No, i expect Orthodoxy to be much deeper than that, so i’ll reserve my facebook likes for something that really makes my faith unique and rises above just “common sense”.

My soul wants more. Who can give me real answers as to why what is happening is happening and where is everything going? My soul wants to understand, my soul wants the Truth!

And there is silence …
