Why can’t Orthodoxy stand on its own ground?

Why is it that Orthodoxy has to join other confessions or organizations in standing up for what it is right, like supporting the traditional marriage? Why do our Orthodox leaders have to make Orthodoxy just another one of those groups that voice their concerns amongst many others? Does Orthodoxy not have a unique identity any more? Is Her message no different to that of the world any longer? Do Orthodox leaders fear they will be unsuccessful because they feel we are a minority? Has Orthodoxy forgotten that the Church is not where the many are but where the Truth is? Are they counting on the help of man rather than that of God? Why are they trading their unicity for unity?

Ever since the beginning we have raised the concern that this sort of unity in face of iniquity is exactly the ecumenist trap that awaits World Orthodoxy and which will lead to the coming of the real Antichrist. It is now happening, and the fight against gay marriage is a prime example. Although fighting against this iniquity is the right thing to do, uniting with others towards achieving this goal is the greatest danger to Orthodoxy today.

Many people look at the gay marriage issue as a trait of the coming antichrist, forgetting that Orthodoxy has always affirmed that the antichrist will come as a man of virtues that shall appear to put an end to all iniquities, for which he will self-proclaim as God. The gay marriage is only the iniquity part in the Mystery of Iniquity and Lawlessness we have talked about in the past, and thus looking only at the iniquity, we can easily miss the point. We wrote in the past that in our view, The Mystery of Iniquity and Lawlessness means that “through appearing of fighting against unspeakable iniquity, it shall be possible for the lawlessness to call itself righteousness”, thus looking at the iniquity part only, we miss the lawlessness part.

Let us therefore dear brothers and sisters in Christ be vigilant and careful at what we are being asked to trade in exchange for joining this common front that is taking shape in fighting against these abominations, because it is our Orthodox soul that they want us to trade! Our voices should be united and heard loudly, but in unity only within our Holy Orthodox Church.

“In 2011, ACL joined a coalition of churches called the Committee for the Preservation of Marriage. They circulated a summary of their stance to politicians, stating that the preservation of the “unique meaning of marriage” is “not of special or limited interest, but serves the common good, particularly the good of children”. The document was endorsed by 50 national church leaders from the Anglican, Catholic, Christian Reformed Churches of Australia, Lutheran, Orthodox, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Salvation Army, Seventh Day Adventist Church and a faction of the Uniting Church.[75]”
